Tash has been tattooing in wellington over the past two years first learning to hand poke and then learning to tattoo by machine.
Tash was born in new Plymouth and grew up in Auckland, throughout school she studied visual art, painting and photography. She became interested in tattooing as a new medium in her artistic endevours. After seeing a backpiece on a family friend she knew tattooing would be a way to pursue art as a career. She learnt a little about hand poked tattooing from a friend who worked at a tattoo collective in Auckland and then shortly afterwards she moved to Melbourne. She got a job in hospitality to buy art supplies for painting commissions and continued to learn more about hand poked tattoos with a plan to work towards getting a tattoo apprenticeship.
She moved back to New Zealand and settled in Wellington where she landed a job at No Glory tattoo in Miramar where she apprenticed for two years and built her skills and learnt how to tattoo by machine.
Tash likes to do black illustrative designs and we’re excited to nuture her and watch her grow even more in the creative environment at Union.
